We will be hosting a Physical Ability Test (PAT) to ensure Healthcare Protection Officer employees meet the required standards for duty readiness.
What to Expect
- A series of physical tasks designed to measure strength, endurance, and mobility.
- Testing will take approximately 30–45 minutes.
- Please arrive in appropriate athletic clothing and footwear
Preparation Tips
- Stay hydrated and get adequate rest before the test.
- Review the test requirements in advance to ensure readiness.
Who Should Attend: HPO employees are due for their annual PAT test.
HSO Annual Training (Richmond)

The HSO Annual Training is a required refresher for Healthcare Security Officers that reinforces core security responsibilities and safe response practices in the healthcare environment.
Topics include:
• Review of healthcare security duties and emergency response expectations
• Regulatory compliance requirements (OSHA, TJC, CMS) and appropriate use of force
• Infection control and biohazard precautions, including proper PPE use
• Conflict management refresher with emphasis on professional presence, communication, and safe de escalation techniques
This training ensures continued readiness, compliance, and professional security response.

Weapons Detection System Train-the-Trainer
Description: BCI is committed to maintaining a safe, secure, and respectful environment that supports excellence in healthcare delivery across our facilities. As part of this commitment, the Passive Weapons Detection System from Athena has been introduced to the Prohibited Items Detection Program. This state-of-the-art technology enhances security screening in the Emergency Department with minimal disruption to patients, visitors, and staff.
This training prepares security leaders to implement and guide best practices in using the passive weapons detection system. It also includes instruction on effective screening techniques using a hand-held metal detector and visual search procedures.
Who Should Attend: Security Managers, Assistant Security Managers, and Supervisors (assigned by the Site Security Manager)
